Production Order Process in Foreign Trade Consultancy: A Strategic and Operational Step

Ensuring successful and timely delivery in foreign trade projects is not just about carrying out the export process with external stakeholders. At the same time, correct planning of the internal operations and integration of production processes into the logistics and financial structure are of great importance. In this context, the production order forms the operational backbone of our foreign trade consultancy.

What is a Production Order?

Production order is a written directive given to the relevant production units in order to produce the products subject to export in accordance with a certain delivery date, quantity and quality criteria.

This order ensures the plannability of the export process and provides clear answers to the following questions:

  • Which product will be produced and in what quantities?

  • By what delivery date will it be ready?

  • What quality and standards will be taken into account?

  • Which raw materials or semi-finished products will be used in production?

How is the Production Order Process Conducted within the Scope of Foreign Trade Consultancy?

Within the scope of our consultancy services, we manage the production order process with the following steps:

1. Finalization of Sale and Contract Approval

Once the sales contract is signed with the customer and the payment method and delivery terms are determined, the production process can be planned. At this stage, all technical conditions and quality expectations are clarified based on the contract.

2. Review of Product Features and Technical Specifications

Technical documentation is reviewed to ensure that the product to be exported is produced in accordance with the required standards in line with customer demands. If necessary, a sample or reference product information is obtained from the customer.

3. Production Planning and Raw Material Supply

  • A production schedule is prepared according to the available capacity.

  • Necessary raw materials and auxiliary materials are determined.

  • Stock control is performed and if there are missing materials, the procurement process is initiated.

4. Official Issuance of Production Order

Production instructions are sent to the relevant production departments via written and digital systems. This instruction includes the following information:

  • Customer name and order number

  • Product code and description

  • Quantity to be produced

  • Delivery Date

  • Quality and packaging details

  • Special customer requests (labeling, lot number, etc.)

5. Process Monitoring and Quality Control

Periodic checks are provided to ensure that the production process is carried out in accordance with the plan. Work is carried out simultaneously with the quality control unit. At the end of production, the products that are ready for shipment are packaged and made ready for loading.

Why is the Production Order Important?

  • Ensures adherence to delivery dates

  • Facilitates compliance with export documents (invoice, packing list, origin, etc.)

  • Helps maintain quality standards

  • Allows for advance planning of logistics and customs processes
